Book Clubs

I've always envisioned a bunch of women sitting around discussing the major themes in this series. If you're wondering whether or not one (or all) of the books is a good fit for everyone in your club, here are my two cents:

  • The novels in this series fall into these genres literary fiction, women's fiction, and African American fiction.

  • Each novel features one of the Morrow girls but some of the others will make appearances.

  • Romance is never more than a subplot.

  • Politics, social welfare, gender roles, and the African American culture create a vivid backdrop for the central dilemma of each story.

And here are the major themes of the series.

  • Justice & Injustice

  • Women can save themselves.

  • Morality isn't black and white.
